Stronger Together: The CGSJ and CRRC Partnership

The CGSJ and the CRRC are platformed organizations as of July 2024. Both organizations are deeply rooted in community advocacy, and while their primary mandates differ, their shared values have led to a long history of collaboration on outreach initiatives and public events.

The CRRC's mission is to promote and facilitate equitable race relations in the city of Peterborough, working with racialized communities to address systemic barriers and foster inclusive spaces. The CGSJ, meanwhile, focuses on supporting those most affected by gender-based marginalization, particularly trans, non-binary, and BIPOC queer communities.

Recognizing the strength in their complementary missions, the CRRC and CGSJ formalized their partnership in July 2024 through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement reflects a commitment to collective work, where both organizations share administrative and financial responsibilities. Importantly, it platforms both organizations equally—ensuring that each brings its unique lens and strengths to the table.

This formalized collaboration significantly enhances the capacity of both the CRRC and the CGSJ to serve the community. It fosters a more intersectional approach to community engagement, combining the CRRC’s longstanding racial justice expertise with the CGSJ’s deep knowledge of gender marginalization and queer issues. Together, the organizations are better equipped to address the complex and overlapping forms of oppression experienced by many members of the community.
