Our Zines

and other publications

Zines have been a tool for marginalized communities to publish their writing and art work and share their thoughts with each other and the communities they live in since as early as the 1930s. Zines gained popularity in the political activism of the 1960s and the punk rock and riot grrl movements of the 1980s and 1990s.

Every year The Centre publishes Zora: A Feminist Publication, featuring the work of gender-marginalized artists and writers in the Peterborough community. This zine is a contemporary spin on the feminist insert the Trent Women’s Centre used to publish in Arthur Newspaper called Lilith which was published throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.

We also publish the BIPOC Self-Love Zine annually. This zine features the artwork of BIPOC Queer folk living in our community. Each issue encompasses a specific theme on the topic of self-love. This zine was created as a way of celebrating BIPOC joy and excellence in the arts.
